“It is the relationship that heals.”
Carl Jung
My Approach
I offer 'integrative relational' counselling and psychotherapy that places the relationship that we will build at the heart of the work.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly. I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, depending on your needs.
I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to suit your needs, rather than working from a one-size-fits-all model or a structured programme. This may include exploring past experiences and patterns, focusing on current challenges, or working more practically with coping strategies and emotional regulation, depending on what feels most helpful for you.
An important part of the process is your reflections and experiences between our sessions. If you're up for it, I can provide you with resources to engage with between sessions. I like to think of this as 'helpful work' not 'homework!'
We will work at your pace, and you remain in control of what feels right to bring into sessions.
Everyone’s story is different
People come to counselling for many different reasons, and you don't need to fit into a particular category to benefit from therapy. While I work with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, I have particular experience and interest in supporting people in the following areas:
Counselling for Professionals
Having had careers before training as a therapist, I understand the pressures of professional life that can lead to stress, burnout, self-doubt and difficulty maintaining the elusive work-life balance. I provide a confidential space to help professionals navigate workplace challenges, career transitions and personal wellbeing - especially for those working within the ‘helping professions.’
Life Transitions
Major life changes can feel unsettling, even when they're positive. Whether you're facing a new career, becoming a parent, leaving home, redundancy, separation or another significant transition, therapy can help you adapt with greater clarity and confidence.
Faith & Spirituality
I have additional training in working with spiritual and religious issues. Our beliefs, values and spirituality can shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Whether you're exploring questions of faith, experiencing spiritual change, or working through religious hurt, counselling offers a respectful, non-judgemental space to explore what matters most to you.
Identity & Self-Discovery
At times we can lose sight of who we are or question where we're heading. Therapy provides a supportive space to explore your identity, values and sense of purpose, helping you develop greater self-understanding and confidence.
Counselling for Counsellors and Trainees
Training and working as a counsellor can be both rewarding and emotionally demanding. I offer a reflective, supportive space for trainee and qualified counsellors to explore personal challenges, professional development and the emotional impact of therapeutic work. I’m down-to-earth, non-judgemental, and ultimately want the best for both you and your clients.
Teenage Counselling (14+)
Adolescence can bring challenges with emotions, friendships, family relationships, identity, school and self-confidence. I offer a safe, supportive space where teenagers aged 14 and over can talk openly, make sense of what they're experiencing and develop healthier ways of coping. Furthermore, I have extensive experience of both teaching and counselling students of all abilities and backgrounds in secondary school, sixth form colleges, and at university, and can support with academic stress and anxiety.
